2010 exports forecast for electronics industry has been revised from simply making up for last year’s global downturn-caused plunge to higher level of expected growth.
Semiconductor and Electronics Industries in the Philippines, Inc. (SEIPI) Chairman Arthur J. Young claimed that from a 10-15% growth outlook, Philippines’ sale of top export could increase by over 20% from year-ago levels based on a surge orders recorded to date.
Information Technology predicted that there will be growth on worldwide semiconductor revenue due to demand for personal computers and storage devices. On the other hand, here in the Philippines, the demands are strong for components used in solar devices and solar power gadgets. The buyers are mostly from China, Asia Pacific, India and South America.
On the latter part, the forecast is threatened by the country’s power supply problem and unproven talks of increase in minimum wages.
